Creative Enterprise Zones

Establishing a Creative Enterprise Zone throughout South Wales

We are promoting the creation of a CEZ throughout South Wales. A network of Creative Industries initiatives across the region. In the case of developing a Creative Enterprise Zone and professional incubators across the South Wales region CEC aim to:

• set up a dedicated Creative Industries website for the zone
• create a newsfeed, information and advisory resource providing signposting, opportunity, interaction and information flow
• create a forum for Creative Entrepreneurs, Enterprises and Stakeholders
• connect existing provision – from community initiatives to education and training to established creative businesses and practitioners
• attract established Creative businesses and investment to the region by championing the benefits of locating here
• develop and keep creative IP in Wales – build a Creative Economy
• identify and develop cultural quarters within the region including the provision of workspace and showcase space
• in due course co-produce Creative Industries conferences, trade fairs and industry events with creative industry partners and sponsors
• set up professional incubators

We believe the above would have a significant social, cultural, and economic effect, providing considerable benefits for those involved in the region as a whole, the future economy of Wales and the UK.

We want to provide a dynamic organisation that will benefit and sustain the creative community in South Wales and provide a focus for building a creative economy in the region.

At this stage CEC are contributing time and effort in order to progress and gain support for this initiative, seeking out like minded individuals and organisations who can also add value to this proposal and can contribute to its concepts and its volition.

The Creative Enterprise Zone will operate as a social enterprise, operating on a co-operative basis any profits are ploughed back into sustaining creative initiatives within the cultural quarters and communities of the Creative Enterprise Zone.

What government agencies and/or funding do we need to involve?

Pretty much every agency or department within the Welsh Assembly Government but particularly those involved in funding economic development, regeneration and marketing both at the government and unitary authority levels throughout the region.

We will also canvass potential Sponsors, Advertisers and Media buyers in order to provide additional funding streams once initial funding is in place for the creation and maintenance of the Creative Enterprise zone website.
